YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Italian Ambassador to Armenia Paolo Andrea Trabalza met with Parliament Speaker Armen Khachatrian on March 20 to thank parliament leadership for helping create Armenia-Italy parliamentary friendship group–which both men described as "a crucial step" for further development of bilateral relations.
Trabalza said a similar group will soon be formed within the Italian parliament.
Upon the request of Trabalza–Khachatrian conveyed the current division and redistribution of political forces in Armenia. Again in reference to the friendship group–Khachatrian said it would start an active work for exchange of information concerning legislative activity and cooperation in international organization.
Khachatrian–who had already visited Rome–extended an invitation to his Italian counterpart and chairman of senate to visit Armenia. Khachatrian reiterated that Armenia was the most politically stable country of the South Caucasus–adding that it was a good condition for foreign companies to invest in its economy.
The ambassador also informed that the inauguration of the Italian embassy building is expected in late May and that may be timed with the opening of the Italian street in central Yerevan.
