TBILISI (Armenpress)–Georgian president Eduard Shevardnadze announced Tuesday that "by 2005 Georgia will knock at NATO’s door," reported Itar-Tass. Concluding negotiations with visiting Armenian President Robert Kocharian–the Georgian leader told a news conference in Tbilisi that "he is conscious of all the difficulties concerning accession to NATO."
President Kocharian said that the "Armenian leadership is not considering the possibility of Armenia’s joining the so-called GUUAM alliance (a loose grouping comprised of Georgia–Uzbekistan–Ukraine–Azerbaijan and Moldavia).
Shevardnadze awarded Kocharian the Georgian Order of Honor. In his turn–Kocharian awarded Shevardnadze the Armenian Saint Mesrop medal.
