YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia will open three new embassies in the coming years, establishing official representation in Japan, Finland and Lithuania, said Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.
The announcement came during budget discussions in the National Assembly on Armenia’s permanent commissions abroad.
Each embassy will be staffed by a five member diplomatic corps, Nalbandian said, expressing hope that, in the future, Armenia’s budget will allow for more embassies to be established.
According to Armenia’s Deputy Finance Minister, over 5 billion drams have been earmarked for Armenia’s embassies and consular services in the 2009 draft budget.
