YEREVAN (Armenpress)—The formation of the Armenia-Russia joint air defense system does not deprive Armenia the independence to manage its own measures of air defense, said Deputy Defense Minister, Ara Nazaryan, during a Parliamentary discussion.
“Currently, Armenia is defending its air space with its measures. After the confirmation of this agreement, we will continue managing out air defense systems. However the Russian resources will be added to them,” Nazaryan said.
The Deputy Minister clarified that the agreement will give Armenia the opportunity to use Russia’s air defense measures, as well. “It is about UAVs, fighter aircraft, as well as about other weapon systems. We will use this as an additional resource to defend our air space,” he said.
However, the agreement on forming a joint air defense system between Armenia and Russia does not apply to Nagorno-Karabakh. “The agreement concerns Armenia and Russia only,” said Nazarian.
“We have our air defense measures for Nagorno-Karabakh, and we are the security guarantor of the state under our military doctrine. This agreement includes the entire airspace of Armenia,” he said.
The Deputy Defense Minister added that if the agreement signed within the framework of CIS related to only the external borders of CIS, then this agreement includes the entire air border of Armenia.

If and when corruption ends in Armenia and all Soviet era politicians are gone, then and only then Armenia will be able to defend herself and get rid of the self serving and Turk loving Russians once and for all.

now Russia is controlling our air space ??????? they control our railways. gas , power system . more or less trade, what else is left to give to Russians. this is a great shame. is Armenia a independent country?…… on the paper yes. if the nations more than seventy percent lives in other countries. and the leadership of the country is bunch of sellout, and politically immature and corrupted individuals. what can you expect………. every Armenian person is responsible for this disaster.
