TBILISI (Armenpress)–An Armenian company has won an international bid for a contract to build a natural gas pipeline for Georgia’s predominantly Armenian, southern province of Samtskhe-Javakheti.
The name of the winning company is Sataha. Under the contract it will build pipelines to connect the towns of Akhalkalaki and Ninotsminda, and the villages of these two regions to the gas network.
The Armenian company won the contract by offered to complete the project at the lowest cost, $11 million. Satah expects profit returns in ten years.
The tender was announced by Georgia’s Energy Ministry in 2007. Two Georgian companies competed alongside Satah for the contract. The energy ministry and the Armenian company are currently in negotiations.
