YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An Armenian film contest will be held in Yerevan for the first time. Over 30 films shot in Armenia’since 1991 will be demonstrated during the contest. The films to be demonstrated were shot in Armenfilm and Hayk studios as well as a number of independent film studios–Deputy Minister of Culture–Youth Affairs and Sport Vigen Chaldranian announced at a news conference Thursday.
The contest organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Sharm company will be comprised of eleven categories. The jury will include members of the Association of Cinematologists and Journalists of Armenia. A similar annual contest will most likely be held in 2001. At that contest cinematographers from the Armenian Diaspora–Henry Vernoi–Atom Egoyan and others will present their works.
Starting in October–Armenian film festivals will be held in Brazil–France–Belgium–Greece and Turkey. Over 100 films will be demonstrated in Paris.
