YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An Armenian delegation led by Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian arrived in Uzbekistan on June 12 on an official visit. The press office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported Oskanian met with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov. During the meeting both sides stated the necessity of developing bilateral relations between the two countries to higher level. The interlocutors also stated that the existing historical friendly relations between Armenian and Uzbek peoples and absence of political problems between the two countries are very good preconditions for mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in various spheres and international structures. The Uzbek foreign minister accepted then invitation of Oskanian to visit Armenia. In the end of the meeting the sides signed statement on cooperation between the Armenian and Uzbek foreign ministries.
On the same day Minister Oskanian also met with President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. During the meeting the possibilities of Armenian-Uzbek bilateral relations’ enlargement and deepening–necessity of legal field’s enlargement and Caucasian and Central Asian regional issues were discussed.
