YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian was in Brussels Wednesday for a working visit with the European Union’s Head of Foreign Affairs Javier Solana.
During their meeting, Nalbandian, and Solana discussed regional security in the Caucasus, Armenian-EU cooperation, as well as post-election developmen’s in Armenia. The two foreign policy chiefs also talked about Armenia’s progress in implementing its European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan.
Nalbandian told the High Representative for the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, that Armenia is making considerable progress in its implementation of democratic reforms. He also discussed the current status of the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict resolution process and gave his assessment of the results of the meeting between the Armenian and Azeri presidents in Saint Petersburg earlier in June.
Nalbandian, later in the day, met with his Belgian counterpart Karel de Gucht. During their meeting, the two men discussed the positive developmen’s between their countries. Nalbandian said he is pleased with the active trade relations between his country and Belgium, and noted that there is serious potential for further expansion of trade ties. They also talked about the importance of activating a political dialogue alongside the economic one.
