YEREVAN (Armenpress)—On Wednesday, Armenia’s National Post unveiled a two stamps commemorating the Armenian Genocide at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The first commemorates American Ambassador Henry Morgenthau who served in Turkey during the Armenian Genocide and documented the atrocities that occurred starting in 1915. The second stamp commemorates America’s Near East Relief program, which saw the largest humanitarian aid effort in history, supported by the American people, in the wake of the Armenian Genocide.

The cancellation was carried out by the Chief of Staff of the President of Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan, Armenia’s Ambassador to the United States, Tigran Sargsyan, and the Commercial Development Director of HayPost, Narine Seferyan.

The President of Armenia Serzh Sarkisian and His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, were present at the unveiling ceremony. President Sarkisian, on official visit to Washington to discuss a trade deal, also visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
