YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The 7th exhibition of Iranian goods opened in Yerevan on November 17 with 46 Iranian companies displaying their products.
The head of the Iranian-Armenian Businessmen Union Levon Aharonian explained that the purpose of the exhibition was to enhance Iranian-Armenian economic relations.
Minister Zadoyan stated the need to define a list of products to be sold in Iran’since more Iranian products are imported to Armenia compared to Armenian products to Iran. Plans on establishing joint enterprises in Armenia for production of goods which later can be exported to Russia were also discussed. Zadoyan went on by calling upon both countries to take advantage of the favorable political relations between the two.
Iran’s ambassador to Armenia Muhammad Farhad Koleini particularly noted that the Armenian-Iranian relations of the past ten years give an opportunity of realizing not only economic but also regional programs. In his words–the economic relations between the two countries have passed to a new phase during the last year. Koleini stressed the need to find mutual markets and announced that Iranian companies are to make more investmen’s in Armenia.
At present–the bulk of goods being imported to Iran is equipment of various types. An agreement was made on producing cigarettes from Iranian tobacco. The establishment of a pharmaceutical company and a flour production facility was announced.
