YEREVAN (Respublica Armenii)–The Armenian Nuclear Plant operated at 92 percent of its full capacity during the four winter months–however has now halved its power production to 180-200MWt. The demand for electric power in Armenia has been reduced due to warm weather. However–operating at a lower rate–the consumption of nuclear fuel becomes less efficient–raising problems of balancing deviations in power consumption–differentiation of tariffs–among others.
The regular prophylactic shutdown of the plant because of consumer debt to the plant has also been cited as a problem.
