YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia is Russia’s serious partner in the region; Russia has not changed its special attitude to Armenia–nor will Russia change it ever–Armenian Prime Minister Vazgen Sargsyan said during his meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Yalta.
Armenian newspapers covering the Yalta summit quoted Putin as saying that Russia must have an adequate attitude to all the participating countries–taking into account bilateral relations and the accomplishment of mutual agreemen’s. The prime ministers of Armenia and Russia agreed on holding monthly meetings.
In Yalta–Sargsyan also held meetings with other senior officials. In particular–the Armenian prime minister accepted the proposal by the Kyrghyzian prime minister on the opening of an Armenian trade center in Kyrghyzstan–which came on the initiative of the Armenian community. The meeting with Georgian State Minister Vazha Lordkipanidze discussed Georgia’s debt to Armenia for electricity supplied to this country running into $6 million–of which only $1.3 million have been paid so far. The Georgian official promised that his country will clear the rest of the debt.
