YEREVAN—Armenian university students received seven medals in the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) for Students, Armenia’s Ministry of Education and Science announced on Monday.
Competing Armenian universities included Yerevan State University (YSU), the American University of Armenia (AUA) and the Armenian-Russian University.
Four students of YSU placed in the competition. Albert Gevorgyan and Albert Sahakyan received gold medals, Vazgen Mikayelyan received a silver medal, and Avetik Karagulyan won bronze.
Artyom Kosyan and Levon Stepanian, both AUA students, placed second and third, with silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Lastly, Hrachya Kocharian of the Armenian-Russian University won a bronze medal.
The team was led by YSU professor, Karen Kerian.
320 students participated in the IMC, which took place in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, from 72 universities across the globe.
The annual competition is organized by University College London and was first held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 1994.
