YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The interdepartmental agreement "Between the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources of the Syrian Arab Republic about scientific and technical cooperation in the sphere of using mineral resources" signed on May 9–2001 was approved by the Armenian government on August 23.
According to the Government’s Information & Public Relations Department–the agreement is aimed at expanding cooperation between the two countries in the industry of prospecting and preserving mineral resources–promoting solutions to problems of employment of specialists in the industry–developing theoretical and applied geology–attracting investmen’s in the field of use of mineral resources–and further contributing to economic progress.
