YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Armenia Hamed Hassan’s diplomatic visit to Armenia has come to an end. On this occasion–Ambassador Hassan met with Armenian Parliament Speaker Armen Khachatrian.
The Parliamentary Public Relations Department told Noyan Tapan that the Speaker expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for his efficient work directed at the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples–wishing success in his further diplomatic activities.
Ambassador Hassan said that he had always felt the support of the Armenian Parliament during the 4.5 years of his service.
He pointed out the personal contribution of the Chairman of the National Assembly both to the development of intergovernmental relations and in the expansion of interparliamentary relations.
Hassan expressed his satisfaction with the fact that during his service a Syrian Embassy opened in Armenia–and many important visits were made and agreemen’s on friendship and cooperation were signed. Concerning the cooperation and friendship between the two Parliamen’s and peoples–the Ambassador pointed out the Syrian Parliament Speaker’s visit to Armenia. He said that the Speaker was looking forward to his Armenian counterpart’s visit to Damascus.
Armen Khachatrian emphasized that there are large opportunities for the further development of political and economic relations between the two countries and there is a mutual interest. Syria is a country which by itself overcame its economic difficulties. From this viewpoint–Syria’s experience may be useful for Armenia. The existence of various economic structure in Syria and their successful development provides large opportunities for the exchange of experience and cooperation in the sphere of industry–agriculture–science and culture.
