A memorial for the Assyrian Genocide in Sydney vandalized

SYDNEY, Australia—The Armenian National Committee of Australia has made a statement condemning the vandalism of an Assyrian Genocide Memorial in Fairfield, New South Wales.

The act of racial hatred, which is directed towards the Jewish, Armenian and Assyrian communities, has seen expletives used to refer to the aforementioned ethnic groups. The monument has also been desecrated with Nazi swastikas.

“ANC Australia deplores such racist attacks in the multicultural state of New South Wales. The vandalism of this monument – a monument dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Assyrian Genocide – was carried out hours after the NSW Jewish community gathered to mark Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance, and days before the Centenary of the Armenian Genocide,” The ANC Australia statement said.

“There is no place for racial hatred and bigotry. The Jewish, Armenian and Assyrian communities have suffered the worst form of racial hatred in the last 100 years – genocide. Such memorials are designed to pay homage to the extensive loss of life that has scarred the pages of humanity.”

The ANC Australia said it is calling on authorities to fully investigate the hate crime and hold the perpetrators to account, and said it will be working with the authorities to ensure justice.

Australia has announced it’s going to the Gallipoli commemoration, I doubt the government there will investigate this incident.

The anniversary of the 1915 military operations on the Gallipoli peninsula has always been marked on 25 April, the day after commemorations of the massacre of more than 1 million Armenians in the Ottoman empire. This year, however, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has invited state leaders to join him in Gallipoli on 24 April.

Tony Abbott is going to celebrate the killings of hundreds of thousands of Australians (His fellow countrymen.
The same goes for John Key.

Australia and New Zealand were and still are a part of British Empire.

Australians have always attended the Gallipoli memorial BUT NEVER ON 24 APRIL. Shame on you…
    .
Everybody knows that the two memorials around Gallipoli have been held on 18 March and 25 April every year.
