GLENDALE–The Armenian American Chamber of Commerce USA (AACC)–under the auspicious of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenian in Los Angeles–is pleased to announce its first Armenian Expo on Saturday and Sunday–June 16 and 17–2001–at Glendale Civic Auditorium. Doors will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday–June 16–2001.
"The purpose of the Expo is to provide an opportunity for Armenian businesses and industries to showcase their products to the general public and local businesses," said Armen Janian–AACC founding member and Chairman. He further noted that "over 40 businesses from industries such as footwear–textile–food and beverage–agriculture–and software and information technology are expected to participate from Armenia." It will be the goal of these businesses to develop strategic partnerships with American importers and distributors. This exposition provides a rare opportunity to strengthen Armenia’s export economy–while building Armenian-American economic ties.
"The AAAC can play a vital role in promoting commerce and trade between American and Armenian companies serving as a linkage for mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields–including high-technology areas," stated Valery Mkrtoumian–Consul General of Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles.
Arthur Babayan–the Executive Director of AACC–who just returned from Armenia promoting the Expo to prospective participants said "the concept of the Expo was received enthusiastically by many Armenian businesses. He further noted "this trade show is the first step of AACC–a non-profit organization–to help Armenia become a successful international trading nation." The AACC was formed by a group of concerned Armenian individuals to promote business and industry between the United States and Armenia.
Admission to the Expo will be $5 for general public–$3 for seniors and students–and children under 10 will be admitted free. The Glendale Civic Auditorium is located at 1401 N.
