YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Nothing has changed in regards to Armenia’s candidacy for membership in the Council of Europe," Rapporteur on Armenia of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe–Demetrio Volchich said at his meeting with representatives of all parliamentary factions and deputy groups November 9.
Volchich–who arrived in Armenia on a three-day visit–pointed out that the issue of Armenia’s membership in the CE will be discussed in normal course–and the October 27 events will not have any impact on this process. Volchich pointed out the importance of the development of democratic processes in Armenia and the resumption of negotiations for the Karabakh settlement.
During the meeting Volchich highly appraised the Armenian parliamentarians’ political level and the absence of intolerance between them.
