YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Minister of Energy of Armenia Merouzhan Mikaelian requested "Armgasprom" to continue supplying gas to the country. The minister promised that all the debts to the gas supplying companies will be paid off in the near future–Spokeswoman of the Ministry of Energy Zhasmina Gevondian told Noyan Tapan. She reported that the "Armimpexbank" allocated a loan for paying off all the debts for gas supplies.
On January 18–the Ministry of Energy issued a statement warning the gas consuming organizations of possible cessation of gas supplies because of their failing to pay for the previously supplied gas. We would remind you that "Armgasprom" supplies gas to Armenia; under the intergovernmental agreement–the gas supplier has the right to stop gas supplies if gas consuming organizations fail to pay for it. By January 1–the debt of heat supplying organizations had reached six billion drams. As to the redemption of the debts–Gevondian reported that the situation is still difficult. At the same time she pointed out that the Ministry is requesting the local authorities for their assistance in the matter.
