Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian beat Spain’s Francisco Vallejo Pons at the World Cup Championship 2005 in Russian town of Khanti Mansiysk–to enter the quarter finals.
Just during the last year–Aronian has moved up in the rankings–and is in the top ten in the world.
During a press conference at the tournament–Aronian was asked whether is an aggressive player or a calm one–he responded–"Generally–friends call me a cheap tactician and it’s not far from the truth. I try to play for the victory when I need to?"
