GLENDALE—On November 21, 2016, Armenian Relief Society (ARS) Western USA members gathered at the ARS Regional Headquarters for a meeting with a delegation from Artsakh, including His Eminence Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan and Deputy Prime Minster General Artur Aghabekyan, as well as Robert Avetisyan, Permanent Representative of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to the United States, and Razmik Stepanyan, Counselor of the Consulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles. The delegation is currently in the region for the All-Armenia Fund Telethon to be held on Thanksgiving Day.
After ARS Regional Executive Chairperson Rebecca Berberian delivered welcoming remarks, His Eminence Martirosyan and Deputy Prime Minister Aghabekyan spoke to guests about the current situation in Artsakh, the important role that ARS “Soseh” Kindergartens play in the education and development of children in Artsakh, and the ARS Stepanakert “Soseh” Kindergarten Rebuilding Project. They commended the ARS of Western USA for its steadfast support of Artsakh and gifted the ARS Regional Executive with the Artsakh flag, a medal in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the Artsakh Prime Minister’s medal.
The ARS of Western USA has played an important role in making significant contributions to Artsakh by lending its vital support to ARS orphan and educational programs abroad, sponsoring ARS “Soseh” Kindergartens in the villages of Ashan and Aganapert, and supporting the advancements of the Soseh Kindergartens. The ARS of Western USA also continues its fundamental humanitarian mission of service by offering support to the brave soldiers defending Artsakh’s borders and the civilians of border villages. With the help of the organization’s dedicated members, the ARS of Western USA will continue providing aid to Artsakh in its time of need.
