GLENDLAE—The Armenian Relief Society of Western USA on June 3 presented the American Red Cross of the Glendale-Crescenta Valley Chapter with a $9,000 donation for their Haiti relief efforts. ARS Regional Executive Chairperson Sossie Poladian, Board Member Asdghig Chitilian, and General Manager Jasik Jarahian met with Ron Farina, Chapter Executive Officer of the American Red Cross.
Mobilizing quickly after the disastrous earthquake in Haiti, the Armenian Relief Society established a Haiti Relief Fund in an effort to help raise funds for humanitarian efforts. The ARS encouraged the community at large to make donations to the fund and requested that its members and supporters provide volunteer assistance to local American Red Cross centers.
Throughout this effort, the public responded to ARS efforts in aid of Haiti’s earthquake victims. Donations were received from local and distant communities, as well as the Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School and Chamlian Armenian School. Farina expressed appreciation for the donation, which will benefit the American Red Cross’ ongoing efforts in Haiti.
The Armenian Relief Society works in association with the American Red Cross for various projects, with chapters organizing blood drives and submitting donations to the organization. The productive meeting on June 3rd allowed for innovative discussions regarding further partnership opportunities.
The Armenian Relief Society continues to accept financial donations for relief efforts in Haiti.
