Tanks perform military exercises in Artsakh

STEPANAKERT (ArmInfo)—Azerbaijan’s latest attacks on the Artsakh border once again showed how furiously Baku seeks to seize the Artsakh Republic and take control of its entire territory, Defense Army Commander Movses Hakobyan told reporters Wednesday. He recalled the truce achieved 20 years ago at the request of Azerbaijan, who applied to Russia for mediation.

“Azerbaijan seeks to seize Karabakh and keeps blackmailing the OSCE Minsk Group. Baku makes absurd territorial claims demanding Zangezour and Yerevan,” he said. Movses Hakobyan emphasized that Azerbaijan declines any possible peaceful solutions to the conflict proposed by the OSCE Minsk Group, the tripartite mediating body in the Artsakh conflict.

According to him, Azerbaijan overestimates the capabilities of its armed forces. Although they have invested significant amount of petro dollars in the armed forces in the last years, they will not achieve their cherished goals, Hakobyan said. He pointed to the “grave consequences” of Azerbaijan’s offensive attempts of the last weeks.

“I’d like to recall that in 1992 the ratio of the Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces was one to twenty.

“At present, the ratio is one to two in favor of the enemy. However, the NKR Defense Army is being constantly modernized and upgraded. We conducted specialized military exercises. Military equipment has been replenished and the catering quality has been improved,” Hakobyan said.

As for resumption of full-scale hostilities, Hakobyan said: “We expect war every day. And the goal of our army is to stand ready for it.”

The difference: Back then Azerbaijan applied to Russia for mediation. Today Azerbaijan applied to Russia and received 4 billion dollars worth of sophisticated weapons…..How things change in 20 years time!

As long as there is no formal truce and as long as that Mongrol Aliyev threatens Armenians every day Armenia should take them very seriously. The Armenian side needs to advance forward at ever Azeri incursion as a possible deterrent. Hostilities will cost more land as a rule.

Turks and Azeris never been a good fighters. The only thing they are good at it is kill innocent people. women, children and old people just like what happened in 1915. first they murdered the young defensless men and killing the rest was easy. It really doesn’t matter how many billions of dollars of weaponary they receive from Russia, china, Korea and Israel they don’t have the guts to fight against Armenian mighty army.

Foot soldiers are the thing of the past, State of the art weaponry is the main game now & mainly air superiority , Azeries didn’t purchase them for xmas toys, don’t wait until they are ready then you will fight on their terms. Israel wanted air superiority in 6 day war and attacked Cairo airport without war declaration destroying Egyptian air force. Now Israel will monitor the dromes from inside Israel and pass on the information to the azeries for free oil.
Forget the pipeline and the oil fields that’s western interests,/ unless you want to involve/fight them to!!!

Again wrong. You will always need boots on the ground to clear out and secure ground. There is no substitute for a soldier patrolling occupied land. UAVs can’t stay airborne forever and see and make judgement calls about cells and infiltrations etc.
      I’m also from Melbourne hello!
