STEPANAKERT, Artsakh Republic – On Wednesday, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office (CiO) Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk met with Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakian, Foreign Minister Masis Mayilian, and Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Levon Mnatsakanyan.
The situation at the Line of Contact (LoC) between Artsakh and Azerbaijan was discussed in each meeting that Kasprzyk had with each official.
Foreign Minister Mayilian also drew attention to the recent ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan, which resulted in the death of an Artsakh Defense Army Serviceman. He noted that any further attempts to destabilize the region are unacceptable while stressing the need to abide by the agreements on all sides.
Mayilian and Kasprzyk also discussed a range of issues related to the activities of the Office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office.
During Kasprzyk’s meeting with Defense Minister, Mnatsakanyan presented evidence of the use spike guided anti-tank missiles and mortars by Azerbaijani forces.
On the same day, in accordance with the arrangement reached with the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh, the OSCE Mission also conducted a planned monitoring of the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan, in the south-east direction of the Hadrut region.
From the positions of the Defense Army of the Republic of Artsakh, the monitoring was conducted by) Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, his Field Assistant Ognjen Jovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Office staff member Martin Schuster (Germany), as well as representative of the OSCE High-Level Planning Group, Lieutenant-Colonel Patrick Farrely (Ireland).
From the opposite side of the Line of Contact, the monitoring was conducted by Field Assistants to the Personal Representative of the OSCE CiO Ghenadie Petrica (Moldova) and Mihail Olaru (Moldova), as well as representative of the OSCE High-Level Planning Group Lieutenant-Colonel Alexander Nepokrytykh (Russia).
The monitoring passed in accordance with the agreed schedule.
From the Artsakh side, the monitoring mission was accompanied by representatives of the Republic of Artsakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense.
