YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–After being interrogated by law enforcement agencies–candidate for Head of Yerevan’s Ajapniak district–Director of the "Hrazdan" sports complex Ashot Aghababian and others were released Thursday–a reliable source reported. The same source added that Aghababian will still participate in his district’s by-elections scheduled for July 25.
According to official reports–about 30 Hrazdan employees were detained on July 14.
However–according to spokesman for the Prosecutor General’s Office Gurgen Ambarian–"Ashot Aghababian was neither detained nor arrested."
He explained that some mass media used inaccurate wording to describe Aghababian’s interrogation. Ambarian stressed that law-enforcement agencies brought Aghababian to the office for "investigation purposes."
