Will run as a Republican candidate for the 24th Congressional District
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—On Friday, California State Assemblymember Katcho Achadjian officially announced his bid for Congress. As he stood among a crowd of supporters on the steps of the Santa Barbara County Courthouse, Achadjian made a clear case of why he has the experience, the work ethic, and is the most qualified candidate to get the job done in Washington.
“For over a decade I have had the privilege of serving in both local and state government,” said Achadjian. “I have found common sense solutions to the challenges we have faced on both the local and state levels. Doing so has not always been easy, but by finding common ground and working together, I believe the central coast is capable of moving in the right direction.”
Among the supporters was former Santa Barbara County Supervisor Brooks Firestone.
“The people of San Luis Obispo County have strongly elected him three times as Supervisor and three times as Assemblymember,” said Firestone of Achadjian.
They know Katcho and they know his substance and integrity. With his family, small business, and immigrant background he is very well qualified to serve – the central coast would be proud to send him to Congress.”
The 24th Congressional District encompasses all of Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County as well the portions of the City of Ventura and the Los Padres National Forest in Ventura County.
Assemblymember Katcho Achadjian seeks to replace Congresswoman Lois Capps who announced her retirement earlier this month.
Achadjian was born in Lebanon, moved to California as a student, and has been a United States Citizen since 1982. In addition to serving as a county Supervisor and Assemblyman, Achadjian has volunteered in support of numerous civic, service, and nonprofit organizations over his lifetime. He lives in San Luis Obispo with his wife.
Good luck. We are all with you.
