BAKU (Itar-Tass)–Azeri President Gaidar Aliyev arrived in Russia Wednesday on an official visit.
He told the Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan–Alexander Blokhin–that he expects an answer from Moscow about the investigation into Russian arms exports to Azerbaijan.
Reports have stated that the Russia’s sent arms to Armenia during Azerbaijan’s war against Nagorno-Karabakh in 1988-1994.
Aliyev said he saw "positive tendencies" in Russia-Azerbaijan relations–particularly their agreement on mutual extradition laws.
Fifty-nine Azeri national detainees have been handed over to Azerbaijan by the Russian government which is also searching for 28 criminals wanted in Azerbaijan who are hiding out in Russia.
Aliyev said a contract was to be signed in Moscow between Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company and the Russian LUKoil company on the joint development of Azerbaijan’s Caspian Sea oil-field.
