BAKU–March 19 (Itar-Tass) – Turkey will not recognise any solution to the Karabakh issue unless Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity is ensured–Turkish parliament speaker Mustafa Kalemli said.
"Turkey favours a complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from all occupied Azerbaijani territories and a return of more than a million of Azerbaijani refugees to the places of their permanent residence," Kalemli said in his speech to the Azerbaijani parliament on Wednesday.
He believes this is the only way to ensure peace and stability in the region and to promote beneficial cooperation among its countries– including Armenia.
Speaking about Turkey’s foreign policy landmarks–Kalemli noted its willingness to develop relations of partnership with all neighbouring countries–especially Russia–on the basis of principles of mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s affairs.
Kalemli particularly stressed the importance of relations with NATO and other European structures.
In his meeting with Azerbaijan parliament speaker Murtuz Aleskerov earlier today–Kalemli–who is in Baku on a two-day official visit– said that "the basis of friendly and good- neighbourly relations between the two countries has been laid before by more than 40 bilateral agreemen’s."
He said that relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan are successfully developing in all areas and at all levels.
Before the speech–Kalemli will attend the inauguration of the parliament library–the first 800 books of which have been donated by the Turkish legislature.
The Turkish parliament has also provided five computers for the new library.
