YEREVAN (Combined Sources)—The people of Azerbaijan are not eager to fight for uncertain objectives and die in the mountains, said Vahan Hovannesian, the head of the Armenian delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly during a press conference on Thursday.
“Most probably, there is only one person in Azerbaijan, who wins political dividends through warmongering. The public did not seem eager to fight for obscure objectives and die in our mountains,” said Hovannesian in discussing a speech made earlier this week at Euronest conference in Baku. by Azeri President Ilham Aliyev who called Armenians occupiers and fascists.
Hovannesian, who is also the chairman of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation parliamentary bloc, said that Aliyev’s agressive and unacceptable anti-Armenian speech at the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly on April 3 was “a cold shower not only for the Armenian delegation, but also for the Euronest as a whole.”
Hovannesian said Aliyev’s speech went beyond all expectations. “Some Azerbaijani members of parliament apologized to us for the President’s speech.”
At the press conference, the Armenian delegation praised the Euronest conference as being productive. They said that incidents such as Aliyev’s speech will not deviate Armenia from the main objectives of the Parliamentary Assembly.
The delegates said the visit to Baku was important and saw no aggression by Azeri parliament members or any others in Azerbaijan.
“We believe we had to go, because although unwillingly, Aliyev dealt a blow to his country’s image. We would not have been able to do what Aliyev did even if we tried,” said Hovannesian
Every single Azeri wants war and revenge, however if they can not start the war for some reasons they (along with Turkey) will enjoy the economic blockade of Armenia 20-30 more years.
aliyev,a misplaced turk needs rehab.Let the Armenians and azerbaijans settle it.jerky turkey keep their nose out of it.Did you ever notice, jerky turkey always try to intimidate a country 1/20th. of its size,no equals, especially if they are unarmed, women, children, old people.. Armenian Genocide. They will never invade, unless some country makes the initial assault, the turkees will be way behind carrying their baggage, and toilet supplies.
Well I highly doubt that not just parliament member but any other person apologized for Presidents speech,
and yes no one will die in mountains cuz we will bomb the place to the gound then rebuild it
You do realize if you send bombs you will get bombs in return, and this time you will lose more land and since you were probably underage during the first war you will feel the hardships of war this time and not forget it so quickly.
yes you will bomb the place (Artsakh ) and make genocide ! this is turkey & azerbaijan typical way to make a country ! cause both turkey and azerbaijan created on bones of other nation .
thanks for confessing that genocide happened to us in turkey and azerbaijan
Akbar, when it comes to destruction most of you are good at it, but when it comes to building you really suck.
Hey Akbar,
God bless you,you are right.
You bomb then you REbuild,
You destroy churches then you REbuild mosques,
You kill millions of people then you REplenish them with turks.
You always RE…,RE…,RE…
Show me something that you actually START.
Bomb the mountains? Good luck ! Not even a fly can cross the broader because we will blow it up in the sky. That’s a fact. If one bomb is dropped on Armenian soil there will be no Azerboljob left to give Armenian b.j. I want to see the day when you cockroaches try to wage war! That will be the end of all Turks not just you!
How will you bomb the place to the ground?

Its great to see how Armenianas are acting smartly and not falling into Aliyev’s traps.
Not a centimeter of Armenian Liberated Lands to Azeri Turks! God bless free and independent Artsakh. Turks back to Mongolia.
Taghem Turki Maman.
The truth, which is politically incorrect now days, ignores the obvious fact. There are diferences between civilizations in their social and technological developments. The muslims, which have a mob culture, are hundreds of years behind the Europeans. These people are primitive with only a thin social veneer. You can dress up a primitive stone age person in an Armani suit, but you won’t impart refinement on that person. Aliev, is a typical example of a mish-mush of the leftover dregs from the people they captured. Himself is an unrefined 40 /60% Kurdish/ Armenian mix. What do we expect?
Cesar Millan, is the best psychologist who can help some world leaders, especially Mr. Alioff of Azerbaijan, his behavior is out of control!!
Let’s bless the opening of the Stepanakert International Airport in June!
Aliyev uses this silly talk for home consumptions. His people know that but the secret service has oppressed people so much that they dare not voice their concerns. The secind there is trouble in Baku, Aliyev and his comical family will be the first to run away like frightened chickens. They know what fate awaits them if they get caught in the hands of the oppressed mob. I agree with Mr. Hovhanessian that the mood for fighting is just a facade . Azeris don’t want to lose Baku too surely?
The main reason given by the Armenian delegation for going to Baku to participate in the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, before their departure, was to be present there and to be able to forcefully defend Armenia’s interests and give an appropriate response to any anticipated Azeri provocation. Yet, the president of the host country stands up and insults not only Armenia’s Parliamentary delegation, but also the entire Armenian nation, calling them “fascists” for the entire world to hear!
And what was Armenian delegation’s “forceful answer”? Based on what has been made public so far, they lodged a diplomatic complaint with proper authorities and were really pleased to hear that their European colleagues were “shocked” by what they were hearing.
The shocking part in all of this is the inability or the unwillingness of the head of the Armenian delegation to either leave the room when this unworthy man started insulting and degrading Armenians once again or, when his turn came to speak, to denounce in no uncertain terms the Azeri president’s speech and DEMAND an unconditional apology. To the best of my knowledge, nothing close took place.
To add insult to injury, some Armenian officials are now consoling themselves by claiming that the Azeri president’s behavior has diminished his county’s prestige. It’s like saying, after a thug has cursed your mother, ” his reputation as a thug is even more diminished now”, instead of punching him in the face.
I guess it is thanks to that “diminished prestige”, that the Azeri president is welcomed as an honor guest wherever he goes and Azerbaijan now sits at the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member.
Thousands of brave Armenians sacrificed their lives during the Artsakh War of Liberation, not only to defend their homes, but also to defend the honor of their people. If some Armenian officials are not capable of properly defending Armenia’s and Armenian’s interests in international forums, we would all be better off if they stayed home.
Good point Harry, that was exactly on my mind also, but the problem is that Dashnaks consider themselves the only caring and true nationalists among Armenians and their even bigger weakness is that they genuinly think and believe that anything their party have done during last 120 years has been the right action and path for the good of Armenian nation. Ofcourse I can’t deny for the sake of the truth they have been doing lots of good also!
Diplomacy is like a theater. A theater with consequences. Because our delegation did not meekly submit to humiliation, Armenia now is a notch higher in the eyes of the world. Because we did so diplomatically and succinctly, another notch. Azerbaidjian, lost a notch for being a bad host, lost another notch for acting undiplomatic, and now the perception on everyone’s mind is that the Armenians are western and civilized, and the Azery’s, pretending to be so. I am delighted to notice a certain enhanced state of refinement in the Armenian delegation and Mr Hovannesian. Diplomacy is everything. Bravo.
