BAKU (525 Gazet)–The Azeri Press reported that the OSCE Minsk Group is preparing a new set of proposals for resolution of the Karabagh conflict–and speculated that the proposals are based on the Kosovo Model.
Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry Spokesman Matin Mirza said–however–that no new proposal has been received from the Minsk Group co-chairs–noting that the Ministry would release a formal statement in the event that the group submits fresh proposals.
Also reacting to the news–head of Musavat Party Isa Qambar said that the ‘Kosovo Model’ envisions the highest level of autonomy and if the proposals designed by the OSCE Minsk Group coincide to this model–it would signify autonomy for Karabagh and the loss of Azerbaijani control. He stressed that the model would jeopardize the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and called for Azerbaijan to reject such principles.
A member of Parliament from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Aydin Mirzazada called the ‘Kosovo model’ unacceptable because the situation in Upper Karabagh situation differs from the situation in Kosovo. "In this case we deal with occupation of the territory of one country by another. Only some principles of the ‘Kosovo model’ could be used." He pointed out that application of ‘Kosovo model’ in resolution of Karabagh conflict is out of question and will not be discussed.
