BAKU (Armenpress)–Azerbaijan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry described a resolution adopted by the European Parliament condemning the destruction of the Armenian cross-stones (khatchkars) in Old Julfa–Nakhichevan as "groundless."
"More than half million cultural monumen’s are under the protection of Azerbaijan. Today Azerbaijan is cooperating with all the international organizations dealing with protection of cultural heritage," Interfax news agency cited Tayir Tagizade–spokesperson for Azeri Foreign Affairs Ministry–as saying.
"It is with great regret that we learned about the adoption of ‘Cultural Heritage in Azerbaijan’ resolution on February 16 by the European Parliament," he said.
"The most surprising thing is that it happens at a time when thousands of Azerbaijani monumen’s are being destroyed in Armenia," said Tagizade.
