ANTELIAS–Lebanon– His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia arrived in London Wednesday to participate in the Christian-Islamic meeting organized by the Prime Minister of Great Britain Tony Blair.
Upon the invitation of the British Prime Minster the meeting will have about 20 prominent religious leaders from different countries–both Christian and Muslim–to discuss issues regarding the possibility of future cooperation between the two major religious groups.
Catholicos Aram I received a special invitaion from Tony Blair to participate in the meeting. Aram I is the only leader of a church–alongside the leader the of the Anglican Church.
The pontiff is also scheduled to chair a session of the conference. Tony Blair will personally participate in the meeting–delivering a speech–after which he will host a banquet honoring the meeting participants.
After London–Catholicos Aram I will visit Geneva to chair the conference for the World Council of Churches.
