WASHINGTON–US Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) announced Los Angeles attorney Walter Karabian’s appointment as Chairperson of her Central District Judicial Appointment Advisory Committee. The Committee reviews applications for federal district court judgeships in the Central District of California and makes recommendations to Senator Boxer. Senator Boxer makes final selections and recommendations to the President for nomination.
Senator Boxer said–"The members of my committee will bring both broad experience and diversity to the judicial selection process. Their expertise and dedicated work will help me identify highly qualified Californians to consider for recommendations to the federal bench in the Central District. I appreciate the hard work of many lawyers–judges and others who ensure that my judicial advisory committees are comprised of such capable and varied individuals."
Joining Karabaian on the committee are David Ruiz Cameron–Professor of Law–Southwestern University school of Law; Los Angeles; Carol Kawanami–former Mayor–City of Villa Park; Villa Park; Marguerite Dowing–Deputy Public Defender–County of Los Angeles; Los Angeles; Kathleen Gonzales–Assistant City Attorney–City of Riverside; Mark Robinson–Attorney at Robinson–Calcagnie & Robinson; Newport Beach; and Glenn Rothner–Attorney at Rothner–Segall–and Greenstone; Pasadena.
The Central District of California consists of the counties of Los Angeles–Orange–Riverside–San Bernardino–San Luis Obispo–Santa Barbara and Ventura.
