YEREVAN—World women’s flyweight boxing champion Susi Kentikian has announced that she will dedicate her next victory to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, Armenpress reports.
“The next fight is of certain importance to me, as I will dedicate it to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide should I win,” Kentikian told reporters on Wednesday in Yerevan, adding that she hopes to have one of her upcoming bouts in Armenia.
“I would like to stay in Armenia, but to continue my career here at home I need sponsors and this is the main problem for my relocation to my home country,” Kentikian said.
Kentikian was born in Yerevan, but emigrated to Germany with her family at the age of five, at the outbreak of the Karabakh war. She lives and fights in Germany.
The “Queen Killer,” as she is dubbed, defended her WBA championship on June 1 by defeating Dan Bi Kim from South Korea.
