YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A delegation led by Minister of Industry and Trade Karen Chshmaritian was on a visit to Brussels to participate in the first meeting of the Republic of Armenia-European Union Cooperation Committee. The EU delegation was led by Head of the Department for the CIS and Mongolia T. Suma.
The meeting was preceded by the constituent assemblies of the Armenia-EU Cooperation Council (October 12 1999) and Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee (December 6 1999).
In Brussels–the Armenian delegation participated in the business forum on Armenia held at the Foreign Trade Council in Brussels. The forum participants held active discussions of economic cooperation with Armenia–in particular–of trade development and investment encouragement. Among others–speaking at the forum was Armenian Consul to Belgium–businessman Haik Arslanian who addressed his business activities in Armenia as well.
As part of the visit–Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Martirossian held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Belgian Foreign Ministry. The sides stressed the need for expanding the legal and contractual framework between Armenia and Belgium.
Thursday–during their working visit to Luxemburg–Karen Chshmaritian and Armen Martirossian held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Luxemburg Lidi Polferi. Later that day the Armenian delegation participated in a business forum on Armenia held at the Chamber of Commerce of Luxemburg.
