YEREVAN (Respublica Armenii)–Prime Minister Armen Darbinian’s administrative assistant Ashot Manoukian on Thursday presented the newly assigned cabinet spokesperson Konstantin Atanesian who will hold briefings every Thursday.
At his first briefing–Atanesian said that 21 issues were considered during the Wednesday cabinet meeting. Among the most significant topics of discussion were the draft law on state purchases–advertising and auction of government automobiles.
The draft law on state purchases was approved by the government–and will be presented for approval by the National Assembly. The new law provides openness of the process–providing the efficiency of budget expenses.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance said that the Prime Minister will soon sign a decree about alienation and sales through an auction of office cars of state budget organizations which exceed the established limit. Profit made from the sales will be contributed to the state budget. This will reduce government expenses. Among those to be affected by resolution–will be Ministries of Healthcare–Culture–the Prosecutor’s Office–the Patent Department–and regional administrations of Aragatsotn and Shirak counties.
Also discussed were changes to be introduced to the law on advertising–which include prohibiting advertisement of replacemen’s for mothers’ milk for infants under the age of six months. Deputy Minister of Healthcare Bagrat Sayadian said that the Government approved the changes–and added that no product may completely replace mothers’ milk.
