WATERTOWN–Members of Congress will join the Armenian American community in a Capitol Hill Congressional Observance marking the 84th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkish government. The Congressional Observance–co-hosted by US Representative Joe Knollenberg (R-Mich.) and other Members of Congress–and sponsored by the Armenian National Committee–will take place on Wednesday–April 21–in the Gold Room (2168) of the Rayburn Building–from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The ANC’s fourth annual Congressional Observance provides Armenian Americans the opportunity to pay tribute to Members of Congress who have been supportive of initiatives to recognize and commemorate the Armenian Genocide.
Last year–more than 40 Members of the Senate and the House joined Clinton Administration officials–foreign diplomats–more than a dozen ethnic organizations–and some 250 Armenian Americans from across the United States during the ANC’s Congressional Observance of the Armenian Genocide.
"We invite the entire Armenian American community to join Members of Congress in marking the 84th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide," said Grace Kehetian-Kulegian–ANCA Eastern Region executive director. "The ANC’s Congressional Observance brings together America’s leadership and America’s Armenian community to observe the Armenian Genocide and pay homage to the victims and survivors of man’s inhumanity to man."
