A train in Armenia

YEREVAN (Arka)—Ten cars of a cargo train carrying gold ore derailed Tuesday night in Armenia on the Shorzha-Vardenis railway in Gegharkunik province, the press office of the South Caucasus Railway CISC reports.

There were no injuries in the accident. Representatives of the company’s administration with CEO Viktor Rebets were on the scene during the recovery effort.

Work is continuing and a special commission is investigating the accident. Results will be made public later.

South Caucasus Railway, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, runs Armenian Railway, which was handed over to the South Caucasus Railway in February 2008 for 30-years concession management with a right to prolong the management term for another 10 years.
