LOS ANGELES—On Monday, the Bozoghlian family, who since the 1990’s has owned and operated the popular Argentinian steakhouse, Carlitos Gardel, on Melrose Avenue woke up to find that their eatery was named the number restaurant in Los Angeles by Open Table, a leading restaurant reservation and review site.
Carlitos Gardel Argentine Steakhouse was named “Best Overall” restaurant based on diner’s reviews on Open Table becoming a favorite of diners in a city that has seen a rise in restaurants and is considered one of the most important dining destinations in the country.
More than 20 years ago, Carlito and Azniv Bozoghlian started the restaurant and quickly gained acclaim for sticking to authentic family recipes from Buenos Aires, from where they moved to Los Angeles.
Today, two of their three sons are an integral part of Carlitos Gardel, with Maximilian serving as Sommelier curating an extensive wine cellar, while Girair is the restaurant’s General Manager. Azniv Bozoghlian continues to hand make the desserts, which have become a staple of every dinner. The family ambience is felt throughout the restaurant, with Carlito Bozoghlian visiting diners and entertaining them with his unique sense of humor and affection.
In addition to the popular ranking of the restaurant, Carlito’s Gardel has bottled and has been selling its Chimichurri sauce. The product, produced by Gardel’s Fine Foods has been on the top fiveranking on Amazon, often occupying the number one slot.
