BRUSSELS–The Armenian National Committee of Europe (CDCA Europe) met Mrs Florence FERRARI–Eastern Europe–central Asia and EFTA Adviser at the permanent representation of France to the European Union.
During this meeting–the representatives of the CDCA Europe informed Ferrari of the recent opening of their office in Brussels and presented her with the organisation’s activities. They also raised questions related to the Armenia–the Diaspora and the Caucasus in general–specifying that these various points would be examined with a European point of view.
"The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere. Mrs. Ferrari was receptive to the subjects that were put to her. The development of communication for better reciprocal information will be the first stage of our collaboration. France is one of the main European Union countries which–as co-president of the Minsk Group–already plays a significant role in the Caucasus–for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We would like France to be the advocate for a European vision in the area–for example by promoting the ideas developed in the recent Gahrton report. Specifically–we think that it must use its moral stature and its economic weight to convince Turkey that the blockade imposed on the Republic of Armenia is neither favourable to Turkey’s economic interests–nor compatible with its application for European Union," declared Laurent Leylekian Executive Director of the CDCA Europe office.
