Chamlian students learning with the online tutoring program

GLENDALE—Chamlian Armenian School’s online tutoring program is now in full swing! Inspired by the successes of the Khan Academy model, the innovative program provides students with access to free Armenian language tutoring and homework support through videos prepared by Chamlian’s experienced Eastern and Western Armenian language teachers.

The school realized that for many parents, helping their children with Armenian homework when necessary could be quite a challenge, especially if they have not received any formal training in the Armenian language. With this in mind, the school firmly believes that the online program will go a long way towards providing students with additional help outside of the classroom.

“This way the students will have the opportunity to do their homework without the assistance of their parents,” states Chamlian Armenian School’s Principal, Mr. Vazken Madenlian.

“Although we have only completed videos pertaining to 1st grade students, our plan is to eventually create videos for all grade levels,” mentions Eastern Armenian Department Chair and Online Tutoring Program Coordinator, Mr. Saro Nazarian.

Online learning methods such as the ones demonstrated on Khan or MathTV.com can surely be helpful tools for any subject.
