YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The prizes of the "The year 2000 in China" competition were awarded September 29 to winners of the competition. The prize-awarding ceremony was held at the Armenian Society of Cultural Ties.
The organizer of the competition–the Chinese Embassy in Armenia–prepared prizes specially brought from China for the top three winners. But the number of winners was higher–and the embassy officials had to increase the number of prizes. The best prize-winner was afforded an opportunity to visit China.
Welcoming the winners–Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Zhu Zhaoshun pointed out that he was happy about the unexpectedly good results of the competition and the fact that there is a large number of supporters of the Armenian-Chinese friendship in Armenia.
Since 1993–the ASCT has celebrated the anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. It was also pointed out that 14 Armenian students are currently receiving education in China–and Chinese students study in Armenian high schools.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China–a photo exhibition is being held at the ASCT.
