TBILISI (Armenpress)–Georgian Prime Minister Edward Shevardnadze finished his two day visit to Turkey on January 30. Turkish Prime Minister Bullent Ecevit was quoted by Turkish Daily News saying relations between Georgia and Turkey are of a unique nature.
After his 20 minute meeting with Shevardnadze on January 30–Ecevit commented on their relations saying–"Georgia’s problems are our problems. Georgia’s security is our security. We had a very fruitful meeting."
Shevardnadze said–"China is interested in the construction of the railroad–which will join Georgia and Turkey. China expressed readiness to take part in the construction and development of Tbilisi-Kars railroad."
"The initiative of the construction belongs to Georgia. Turkey agreed several years ago–but at that time it was difficult to find investors"–Shevardnadze told reporters. He also added that the railroad will give the Central Asian countries and China an opportunity to have railway contacts with Turkey and European countries.
