BEIJING (Xinhua)–The Chinese People’s Liberation Army is willing to cooperate with the Armenian armed forces in a variety of areas based on equality and mutual benefit.
Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian–who is also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and state adviser–made this remark during talks with Armenian Defense Minister Vazgen Sargsyan.
During the meeting–the two defense ministers engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and the Asia-Pacific as well as international situation.
Chi said that the Chinese armed forces adopt a positive attitude toward enhancing friendship and cooperation with their Armenian counterparts. He expressed the conviction that Sargsyan’s current China visit will lay a solid foundation for the further development of relations between the two armed forces.
Sargsyan–who is the first Armenian defense minister to visit China since Armenia’s independence seven years ago–told Chi that Armenia places great importance on developing relations with China.
Armenia believes that China’s raising status in the international arena and its enhanced national strength are important factors for maintaining world peace–he said–adding that the Armenian armed forces are prepared to deepen cooperation with their Chinese counterparts.
