CIA to Boost Ties with Turkey

CIA Director David Petraeus

ANKARA (Hurriyet Daily News)—The director of the Central Intelligence Agency, General David Petraeus paid an unannounced two-day visit to Ankara to discuss deepening instability in Syria, the joint fight against terrorism and closer cooperation on pressing regional issues “in coming months.”

David Petraeus, the CIA chief, held meetings with top Turkish officials both yesterday and on March 12, the Hürriyet Daily News learned. Petraeus met with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan Tuesday and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), the previous day.

An official from the U.S. Embassy said that Turkish and Amerian officials discussed “more fruitful cooperation on the region’s most pressing issues in the coming months.” Turkish officials said Erdogan and Petraeus exchanged views on the Syrian crisis and anti-terror fight.

The officials further discussed an intelligence-sharing mechanism launched in 2007.

Petraeus’ visit coincided with that of Kofi Annan, the United Nations and Arab League’s special envoy to Syria. Though both officials stayed in the same hotel in Ankara, there was no confirmation of a potential meeting between the two.

Annan, who is trying to push the Syrian leadership to end its measures against anti-government rebels, is the latest international figure to have met Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

amicikyan, why don’t you stop following Armenians everywhere and making ignorant comments?
You fake a name today, pretending you’re Armenian. Tomorrow, you’ll be a Johnson, then a Goldberg but the truth is that you’re a Seljuk TURK!

CIA should help Turkey to invade Syria, with American tax Dollars that Turkey built it’s economy, it is time that he shows gratitude and help defend American interest in the area, by stepping in and helping the innocent people of Syria

I have a question for General Petraues, General Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Clinton and basically anyone else who thinks they rule the world….. Who is the boss in Eastern Europe? Is it Turkey or the Eastern Europeans? Though in this specific article Turkey is lauded as a critically important power regarding affairs in the Middle East, when it comes to instability in all areas such as the Caucasus, the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Balkans and Eastern Europe, the West always relies on its patsy Turkey as a “back door” through which to suppress the Eastern Europeans, and the West uses the “front door” to do a double sided attack, thus ensuring that as long as Eastern Europe is suppressed Western Europe won’t have to try so hard to be ahead.

Another blinker. Pres. Harry Truman,a great man, said that having military men in politics, like having a horse with blinders.

It is the Central Lack of Intelligence agency. It was the CIA who funded the Afghan Mujahadeen which turned into the Taliban and are involved in a 10 year war in Afghanistan that will never be solved. The CIA in it’s great incompetence has created a monster that it can’t defeat. Similarly, the CIA supported the rise of Islamists in Pakistan and look what a mess that has created.

Armenia needs to join the Eurasian Union that was started by President Putin. Russia is Armenia’s only ally and joining the Eurasian Union will help Armenia’s economy to overcome the Turkish-Azeri embargo. The European Union is not a friend of Armenia .The protocols are a disaster and this would have allowed the Turks to take over the Armenian economy. The Turks want to commit economic and cultural genocide. It is sad that Armenian woman are marrying Turks and creating half Turk half Armenian children. These half Turk kids will naturally show loyalty to Turkey.
