ANTELIAS, Lebanon–The Catholicosate of Great House of Cilicia General Assembly kicked off Thursday. The meeting was convened and chaired by His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.
The Cilician Catholicosate’s members from all Prelacies have arrived in Lebanon to participate in the long-awaited blessing of the Holy Water (Muron) ceremony Saturday and to participate in the meeting.
Under the general heading “The Armenian clergy facing the challenges of the 21st century,” the General Assembly delegates will discuss the mission of the Armenian Church and the Catholicosate of Cilicia in particular, reassessing it in light of present day challenges. Various units and departmen’s of the Catholicosate will present reports about their activities. The spiritual, educational, cultural and social activities of the Brotherhood will be presented. The Brotherhood mission with its two pillars- developing the church and serving the nation- will be evaluated.
The Pontiff will address the Catholicosate members on this occasion. He will set the guidelines for the functioning of the Cilician Catholicosate, based on the Catholicosate’s future plans. Each delegate will have the opportunity to hold a private meeting with the Catholicos to express individual concerns and receive the Pontiff’s blessings for planned future initiatives.
