YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Commonwealth of Independent States Council of Foreign Ministers discussed today the alleged illegal Russian weapons shipmen’s to Armenia. The Georgian Kavkas-Press agency reports that the meeting of the CIS ministers was instigated by Azerbaijan’s concern over these shipmen’s. Moscow’s military prosecutor’s office has begun its investigations into all weapons shipmen’s to Armenia from 1994-1996. So far–the Russia’s have not received any money for the 84 tanks and 50 combat carriers. According to Chief Military Prosecutor Valery Panichev–they can already prove that many violations have taken place from the materials given to the office by the defense ministry commission. Panichev also said that no other facts from the case will be revealed because of the political importance of the case. The Military Prosecutor’s Office will refrain from any commen’s until the investigation is over.
