GLENDALE–In an effort to reach out to the Armenian American community of Glendale–the Armenian National Committee (ANC) Glendale Chapter is joining the City of Glendale to host an additional Long Range Planning Forum for residents. The forum will take place Wednesday–March 15–at St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church and will provide community members with an opportunity to voice their opinions regarding the city’s long range planning goals.
The forum will be the last in a series hosted by the City of Glendale in January and February. Those who attend will be given an overview of the forum and an explanation of the city’s various services and programs before being separated into smaller groups to discuss the city’s budget. Although the forum is being widely publicized in the Armenian community–it is open to everyone. Several translators will be available to assist non-English speaking residents.
"The Long Range Planning Forums are a way of compiling community opinion and input which will then be integrated into the city’s long range plan and therefore it is important to get as many attendees as possible," said Glendale Mayor Rafi Manoukian. The Mayor along with several other Council Members and city officials will also be at the forum to answer questions and address residents’ concerns.
"Armenian Americans make up more than 30% of this community and should therefore have a significant say in the long term plans of this city. We hope that the familiarity of the location and the availability of Armenian American officials–staff–and translators will encourage more people to participate on March 15," said George Garikian–Chairman of the Glendale ANC.
Questions regarding the upcoming event can be directed to ANC-Glendale at (818)243-3444 or info@ancglendale.org. RSVP’s for the event are encouraged.
