SANTA ANA–Executives of community organizations and other community leaders met with the ARF Armen Garo Gomideh and networked during a reception on August 29 at Orange County Armenian Center, in Santa Ana.
This was a first chance for the newly elected ARF committee members to meet their counterparts at the ARS “Karni” and “Sevan” Chapters, the Hamazkayin “Siamanto” Chapter, the Homenetmen “Sartarabad” Chapter, and the Board of Trustees and Ladies Auxiliary of Forty Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church. The OC Armenian Center is located adjacent to the church complex. Prelacy Executive Council chair, Dr. Garo Agopian was among the more than 50 guests who attended the get together. The event provided ample networking time to learn about each other’s goals and align activities in a more coordinated fashion.
During the reception, which took place during the middle of the individual organization meetings with the ARF Armen Garo Gomideh, Dikran Sassounian, Chairman, welcomed and introduced the guests, and presented the vision of cooperation and service to the community. He also announced that a couple of months ago a Mortgage Burning Committee was brought together under the chairmanship of Karnig Sarkissian, with the aim of paying off the debt on the Orange County Armenian Center, so that following the mortgage burning, the community could direct efforts to other community-building activities, such as the school and youth.
Some of those present were regulars at the Armenian Center, especially since they attend the weekly Friday night dinners, but others were pleasantly surprised to meet like-minded individuals who were concerned to provide activities and resources for the youth and get them involved in the community. The consensus was appreciation and support of the effort.
