GLENDALE–As was reported earlier–Nagorno-Karabakh Republic president Arkady Ghoukassian accompanied by Karabakh foreign minister Naira Melkoumian will kick off their 15-day US visit Saturday when they arrive in Los Angeles.
The Social Democratic Hunchakian Party–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the Armenian Democratic League (Ramkavar) issued a joint announcement this week calling on the Armenian-American community of the Southland to attend a public gathering marking the 11th anniversary of the Karabakh liberation movement and featuring Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Arkady Ghoukassian as its keynote speaker.
"The honorable president–during his visit to Los Angeles as the leader of the heroic Karabakh Republic–will deliver his message to our community. He is the leader of a region of Armenia which waged a national liberation struggle–giving new meaning and new impetus to the Armenian Cause and took a decisive step in realizing our people’s dream of creating a United Armenia," the joint announcement declared.
The community gathering is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. Sunday–February 28 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium–300 East Green Street. Admission is free.
